Insurance

Part I — Vehicle Insurance

All our vehicles are fully insured. However, please note that insurance coverage becomes void and Autobiography will not compensate any loss in the following cases:

  • Important: If traffic police, in accordance with Georgian law, determine the renter/driver to be at fault in a road traffic accident (RTA) — the renter bears full responsibility for all damages, including vehicle damage, third-party losses, legal costs, and all other obligations arising from the incident
  • Important: Driving under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, or psychotropic substances
  • Important: The vehicle being operated by any person not listed in the rental agreement
  • Important: Intentional damage or a deliberately caused accident
  • Important: Leaving the scene of an accident without completing the legally required procedures
  • Important: Off-road driving or travelling in restricted or unauthorised areas

In the event of an RTA, the renter is obligated to: immediately notify Autobiography; remain at the scene; call traffic police; not leave before police arrive; and not arrange any unofficial ('friendly') settlement — all damages from such informal settlements are fully the renter's responsibility.

Part II — Third-Party Liability Insurance (TPL)

Third-party liability insurance coverage is capped at a maximum of $10,000 (ten thousand US dollars) per incident. If, for any reason (including but not limited to: breach of policy conditions, excluded events, or the insurer's own decision), the insurance company refuses to fully or partially compensate a claim — any remaining, uncovered, or excess amount is the sole responsibility of the renter/driver. Autobiography accepts no liability whatsoever in such situations.

Limitation of Liability

Autobiography is in all cases exempt from liability and will not compensate for losses arising from:

  • Loss or damage to personal belongings, items, or valuables left in the vehicle by the renter or passengers
  • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the vehicle, including missed flights, lost business opportunities, or other financial losses
  • Medical expenses, injuries, or fatalities resulting from a road traffic accident or any other incident — these costs are entirely the renter's responsibility and/or that of their personal health or life insurance
  • Events of force majeure: natural disasters, war, civil unrest, or restrictions imposed by government authorities
  • Any traffic violations, administrative penalties, or criminal liability arising from the operation of the vehicle — these are entirely the driver/renter's responsibility
  • Any other circumstances not explicitly covered by this agreement — Autobiography reserves the right of final interpretation

Renter Obligations

  • Rule: Only the person(s) listed in the rental agreement may operate the vehicle; operation by any other person is strictly prohibited
  • Rule: Taking the vehicle outside the territory of Georgia is prohibited without prior written consent from Autobiography
  • Rule: In the event of an RTA or any incident: (1) stop the vehicle, (2) immediately contact Autobiography, (3) call traffic police, (4) do not leave the scene before police arrive, (5) do not authorise any repairs without our permission
  • Rule: Autobiography is not liable for any damages resulting from unofficial ('friendly') accident settlements arranged without notifying us
  • Rule: During any legal or insurance claim process, the renter is obligated to fully cooperate with Autobiography and the insurance company
